TRAINING PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS

Workshop Delivery Method

Facilitator led with as much interactive discussion as possible, depending on time constraints. Delivery is also interspersed with a variety of short, fun activities and exercises, to alleviate the drudgery many feel in the adult education environment. Above all, a very serious sense of humour is maintained at all times! People learn more effectively when they are having fun!

With the use of a Data Projection System, a full colour animated MS PowerPoint Slide Presentation driven by a LapTop P.C., is used. This method is preferable as it makes even a dry subject matter more interesting and controls participants focus more effectively.

Course Evaluation Comments

"The course was performed in a way of group game competition that highly attracted participants’ attention and focus. Good interactions between the Instructor and participants".

"Fun, fast-paced, time for discussion and comments. Very innovative. Instructor was terrific. Best training course I have ever had at NOVA".

"Making the Training Game was a great way to keep things from getting boring. I liked the film sound bites as well. I also liked the personal anecdotes about safety training at other companies or regarding labels from different suppliers. This was a nice addition to the game show part of the training".

"Question & Answer was very effective, especially in groups. I actually stayed awake and had fun! The game and toys were great! The breakout groups were great! It was good to sit with people I didn’t know well. It was also great to have Alan match names with faces – it’s very hard to be anonymous & sit back in the crowd that way."

"A dull topic was presented in a refreshing and entertaining manner. People’s interest was maintained."

"It held my full attention for the entire course. The Game format made the course move along at a good pace and kept people interested!"

"The quiz format was fun & entertaining. Time went by very quickly. It was a good way to get to know the (WHMIS) Handbook better. Very good Instructor & format. One of the more enjoyable courses!"

"Not boring! Well organized and structured. The information was presented in an easy to understand fashion. Excellent course: objectives met!"

"Instructor was excellent: showed great interest & enthusiasm."

"Extremely thorough. Instructor was very knowled eable and greatly enhanced the learning."

"The Instructor was excellent. I was afraid, as with previous one-day WHMIS courses, that the Instructor would have half the class asleep by noon the first day. Alan instructed for 3 days in a captivating, interactive, informative manner. I will look for more courses taught by him."
